1. The following details are now available of the new construction and repair work undertaken at the Taikoo Dockyard, Hongkong, during July and August, and October to December 1943.
New Construction. In July a 2,000 ton vessel was in course of construction. By December, although the keel and frames had been completed, work on this ship was practically suspended owing to shortage of materials Repairs.
(i) In July-August, the "Stanley" (459 g.r.t.) had been raised and was docked at No.3 slipway. Repairs were estimated to require four months to complete, but it is not yet known if this programme was achieved.
(ii) The Nippo Maru (3,764 g.r.t. ex Ningpo) was in drydock in July-August requiring repairs which were to be completed at the end of September. The se we re completed by October 25th.
(iii) A passenger/cargo ship of some 7,000 g.r.t. lying off the Dockyard was damaged in the air raid on December 1st, and was towed in and berthed on No.2
